Each summer, Anna’s family escaped the city heat for the foothills of the Himalayas. Langurs moved through the treetops above, their silhouettes cutting across the sky, while bird calls echoed through the mountains. At times, clouds would roll in and wrap the cottages in mist; at others, thunderstorms would flare across the horizon, lighting the hills in sudden bursts.
